Sotillo de la Ribera: An amazing small town!

In the heart of the Burgos part of Ribera del Duero, Sotillo de la Ribera, located 17 km from Aranda de Duero, is with no doubt one of the most interesting places to visit.
Sotillo de la Ribera, ancient dominion of Duque de Lerma, is a village of over 600 people, with a typical riverside landscape, abundant vineyards and XVIII century old cellars.

During the time of Carlos III this town was benefited by the economic peak of the wine business and it has its splendor years. One can see now the result of that prosperity in the elegant emblazoned buildings, among those the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), La Casa de la Botica (Drugstore House) and the Palacio de los Serrano (Palace of the Serrano).

Nowadays Sotillo is a prosperous town, with 6 wineries belonging to the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, two quality lodgings, a back pudding and charcuterie manufacturing company, a cheese factory, a restaurant, four bars and different shops where you can buy local products.
